Jennifer Isaacs is a multi-talented writer/performer working in many areas of the liberal and performing arts. She is an accomplished jazz vocalist, composer-lyricist, arranger, writer of music and letters, theatre & music director, and educator. She has performed all her life. She is a sexy and sophisticated storyteller with magnetic stage presence and a firm command over her performance. Currently, Jennifer is seeking to form new collaborations with NYC metro jazz musicians and writers/producers for the theatre. Jennifer recently recorded a CD of jazz standards and crossover pieces of her own arrangement entitled Waterlily, (listen to samples here.) Jennifer lives with her husband in New York City. She is a full-time faculty member at The Bronx Theatre High School as an educator of English, Music, and Drama. She has worked with young actors/performers in all capacities and has directed over 10 full productions in five years. Jennifer earned Bachelor's Degrees in Jazz Performance and English Literature at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 2001. (Click here to download a PDF Resume.) She has performed extensively with many excellent players and studied with great masters of both jazz and classical music. Her culminating Undergraduate project involved over fifty students and teachers in the production of her own full-length, original jazz musical, WRENCH, (listen to samples here.) This successful premiere led to her elected member status in the American Society of Composers and Publishers (ASCAP.) WRENCH is a comical introduction into the world of stagehands. It was based on her over seven years of experience as a theatre technician. It was this production, along with other original compositions, which earned her official acceptance to New York University's exclusive Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program in 2004/5. Jennifer’s greatest strength as an artist is her various influences from many different cultures and musical genres. Some of her favorites are Billie Holliday, Bonnie Raitt, Joni Mitchell, Bach, Bjork, Igor Stravinsky, Leonard Bernstein, James Brown, Stephen Sondheim, Neil Young, and Aaliyah. She is a passionate listener of R& B, Bluegrass, traditional Irish, Indian, and Brazilian music. Besides music and education, Jennifer is passionate about travel, politics, nature, literature, animals, languages, dancing, and great food. |
